Hi, it’s nice to meet you!

My full name is Sophia Alexander Pevzner, but I go by Sonya.

I am an empathetic and engaging designer and storyteller with a keen eye for different perspectives. Regardless of industry, my approach to work is always people-first.
I value honest, simple designs that prioritize big-picture ideas and accessible design thinking for a diverse user base. I perform best when I am able to implement a variety of skill sets and work on a diversity of tasks and problems.
I spend my free time playing outside with my daughter, romping in the woods with my dogs, growing tomatoes (and forgetting to trellis them), and rehabbing our 1930’s craftsman home. I also drink a lot of coffee.

I’m an outdoors kid.

my design manifesto

  1. Good design is the action of creating a product or experience, but design itself is not the priority. PEOPLE using the product or experience are the priority.

  2. Good design DOES NOT HARM, intentional or accidental. Ignorance is not an excuse.

  3. Good design treats users as whole human beings and prioritizes their RESPECT, DIGNITY, & INDEPENDENCE as distinctly separate from your product or experience.

  4. Good design considers a variety of DIVERSE EXPERIENCES & PERSPECTIVES, and does not treat these as an afterthought.

  5. Good design makes a product or experience MORE USEFUL & EASIER to interact with.

  6. Good design is not swayed by fads or popular opinions. Good design strives to be EVERGREEN.

  7. Good design considers ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT, from data storage to physical product sustainability.

  8. Good design aims to be TRANSPARENT & OPEN SOURCE. Innovation dies in darkness.

  9. Good design innovates NEW POSSIBILITIES within existing frameworks.

  10. Great design already exists in the SYSTEM OF THE NATURAL WORLD and within the framework of human psychology. Good human-created design strives to follow these patterns, and looks to existing systems for inspiration.
